So many are worried that if Trump loses, stocks will fall and taxes will go up. Yeah, well, ya know... ya get what you pay for.

I can't count how many times in life I've been taught this simple lesson: When you cheap out on something - be it cash payment, or work involved, 9 times out of 10, you'll get an end product that reflects the amount of cash or work you invested. Why would this situation be any different? 

And really, this applies to our entire system of capitalism. It's just more difficult to see because the effects aren't immediate, and most often occur at a level unobserved until they culminate in catastrophe. i.e. climate change due to the negligence of individuals in a global population, or an extremely high crime rate due to decades of small cuts to educational funding, etc.

We're smarter than this. I know it. We shouldn't have to hit rock bottom to recognize our mistakes and correct, but... here it comes.

I referenced (from Wikipedia (from census)) the educational levels by state with the political parties chosen in the 2016 elections. As I expected, the higher level of education overall went to the democrats. But it was CLOSE! That, I think is largely because of financial interests. Meaning, advanced degrees go hand in hand with wealth, and wealth tends to lean right. But so, in conclusion, a considerably greater percentage of college educated people lean left.

So a friend on facebook said, "there should be no gun free zones." My knee jerk reaction to that was unfair, as I interpreted that statement to mean, “let any idiot with a gun go wherever the hell he pleases; concerts, schools, whatever. In fact, I'm gonna go out front and squeeze off a few rounds right now because the Lions lost again, fuck!” I didn't think he meant that we should pay for on-site armed protection for our children. Bill Maher's a reasonable man. His points are well thought out, and he ALMOST always articulates them as such. He of course MEANT no ill will by his "joke," but the social dialogue it has sparked is one we've heard hundreds of times and I fear it stems from a lack of understanding.
